A Message from the Program Directors

Thank you for your interest in the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

As Program Directors, we are proud to lead a fellowship dedicated to developing the next generation of surgical intensivists, trauma surgeons, and academic leaders. Our mission is to provide a rigorous, comprehensive, and supportive training experience that prepares fellows to excel in the care of critically ill and injured patients while advancing the fields of surgical critical care and acute care surgery.

The Surgical Critical Care Fellowship offers an exceptional combination of high-volume clinical experience, multidisciplinary collaboration, innovative education, and academic opportunity. Fellows train alongside nationally recognized faculty and work within one of the country's premier academic medical centers, caring for patients with complex surgical, trauma, transplant, vascular, and emergency general surgery conditions.

Our curriculum is designed to develop expertise in every aspect of critical care medicine. Through extensive bedside teaching, structured didactics, simulation-based education, and participation in quality improvement and research initiatives, fellows gain the knowledge, technical skills, and leadership abilities necessary for success in both academic and community practice settings. Dedicated educational conferences, multidisciplinary case discussions, and hands-on learning experiences provide a strong foundation for lifelong professional growth.

We believe that outstanding fellowship training extends beyond clinical excellence. We are committed to fostering an environment that values mentorship, intellectual curiosity, professionalism, and wellness. Each fellow receives individualized guidance to help achieve their unique career goals, whether those aspirations involve research, education, administration, trauma surgery, acute care surgery, or critical care practice.

The strength of our program lies in our people. Our faculty, nurses, advanced practice providers, residents, and multidisciplinary colleagues are deeply invested in creating a collaborative learning environment where fellows are empowered to develop confidence, independence, and expertise as future leaders in surgical critical care.

We invite you to learn more about our fellowship and explore the many opportunities available at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. We are honored by your interest and look forward to meeting you during the application process.
