Cancer Research

The Department of Surgery represents the breadth of expertise in cancer research at Weill Cornell Medicine. Our team includes investigators focused on basic mechanisms as well as clinical outcomes.

There are major strengths in leukemia as well as solid tumors (breast, gonadal, thyroid, pancreas). We are also focused on tumor-promoting genetic modifications, as well as the environmental niche that supports tumor growth and metastasis.

Within our overall research into the causes, behaviors and treatments of cancer, we have shown excellence in specific types of the disease.
