Weill Cornell Medicine has a long history of excellence in the field of vascular biology. The Department of Surgery continues this tradition today through their work to better understand the vasculature and develop new and better ways to treat patients.
Research is focused on the role of the vasculature as a niche for stem cells and cancer stem cells; the role of the vasculature in wound healing; the close relationship of vascular and hematopoietic progenitors; and the developmental programs that modulate endothelial cell differentiation and function.
