Wounds caused by trauma or burns, or that are associated with diabetes are a major point of interest for researchers in the Department of Surgery.
Our faculty members and collaborators have developed novel tissue-engineering approaches that draw on clinical excellence in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Our research suggests that these approaches, which may be integrated with stem cell or vascular therapies, should have a significant impact on morbidity and enhance the regenerative capacity of wound healing processes.
