Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dentistry

About Us

The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dentistry at Weill Cornell Medicine is a major academic-based program providing care that ranges from general dentistry to advanced surgical restorative and reconstructive procedures.

The division, based in New York City, provides care to healthy and medically compromised individuals in outpatient, inpatient, and Emergency Department settings.

From routine dental care on teeth and gums to innovative arthroscopic surgery on jaw joints and major reconstructive facial surgery, our specific areas of expertise include:

  • Oral and maxillofacial medicine and pathology
  • Adult & Pediatric Dental rehabilitation under general anesthesia
  • Non-surgical care of temporomandibular joint disorders
  • Surgical management of temporomandibular joint derangements
  • Surgical management of benign diseases of the mouth and jaw. We also team with Head & Neck Surgeons and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons for management of malignant diseases of the mouth and jaws.
  • Surgical management for congenital and growth deformities and management of facial trauma
  • Dental clearance for cardiac procedures, head and Neck radiation, and stem cell transplant

With experts in each of these areas, patients are assured continuity of care for any level of oral concern. We also offer a dedicated children's dentistry facility staffed by Pediatric Dentists, one of only a few in the New York region.

Care is provided by our academic faculty and our residents participating in the General Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery programs, who often work with our diverse community-based and voluntary faculty.

The Division also has two Advanced Education Residency Programs: a PGY-1 and PGY-2 General Practice Residency in Dentistry and a 4-Year Certificate Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency.
