The goal of this program is to give residents a chance to socialize outside of work, help facilitate work life balance, and promote wellness among the residents by reminding them they have a life outside the hospital. New York City is one of the most amazing cities in the world and our goal is to help residents make the most of their limited free time by getting out and exploring as much of it as possible.
The 2 residents that coordinate the group send out interesting events every 2 weeks such as:
- Jazz and Swing Night with the Harlem Jazz Society
- Film Showings at MoMA
- The comedy pun competition Punderdome
- Astronomy nights on the Highline
- Salsa Dancing
- Free Haircut Day
- Rock 'n Roll Bingo
- New York Public Park Outdoor Film Screenings
- Family events at the Japan Society
They also plan monthly events:
- Labor Day B-B-Q
- Outdoor happy hour
- Bowling
- Axe-throwing excursion
- Halloween costume contest/bar crawl
- Multidisciplinary radiology/neurology/surgery happy hour
- Pumpkin carving
- Annual plastic surgery-general surgery football game (The Halsted Bowl)
- Post-absite party
- Chief Roast and party
